Rally Obedience

An exciting competitive event open to all dogs: purebred, mixed breed and rescue dogs of all types and ages. All dogs can benefit from the training and fun of Rally Obedience!

Rally Obedience is a fun, fast-paced demonstration of a dog and handler’s ability to perform basic obedience exercises, as well as offering an opportunity to showcase teamwork between you and your dog.

Teams follow a course of signs in a ring which indicate an obedience routine based on their skill level.

AKC has made this a titling sport for dogs. A manual from AKC can be purchased that explains all the signs and how they are to be performed for judging. Handler and dog enter the ring with 200 points. At a brisk walk, handler and dog follow the numbered course, reading the sign and performing the correct movement.  Level 1 is all done on loose leash. Requirements are not as strict as in the traditional obedience competition. Level 2 and 3 are done off leash and have more complicated movements to be performed. Dog and handler are timed while on course. Time is used as a tie breaker. Three qualifying runs are necessary to be awarded a title.

Points are deducted for failure to perform the correct interpretation of the sign.  Level 2 and 3 are done off leash and have more complicated movements. Dog and handler are timed while on course. Time is used as a tie breaker. Three qualifying runs are necessary to be awarded a title.
